CLASSROOMS
Toddler 2
Children ages 2 to 3 years old - Teacher/child ratio of 1:6

Our main goal is to make your toddler feel secure and loved with us. We also want to be certain that we provide opportunities and experiences that will promote development of language and motor skills. Learning is hands-on and will give the children free choices to explore by touching, seeing, hearing, and doing. Your child will enjoy singing and dancing, listening to music, story time, puzzles, manipulative activities, toys for fine motor development, playing on the playground for gross motor development, and so much more.
In all the activities the teacher is right there with them helping to support their discovery and learning process.
We will get to know your child as quickly as possible to insure he/she is comfortable in this new environment. We encourage you to bring your child to the class just as they are, let’s transition together if they are not weaned from the bottle yet.
Children with the following symptoms, must be kept at home until they have been symptom free for 24 hours:
- Temperature of 100 (under the arm)
- Diarrhea or vomiting
- An undiagnosed rash
- Sore or discharging eyes, ears or profuse nasal discharge
*These symptoms are most frequently the result of viral infections and are easily transmitted in young infants.
There are a few things you will need to provide:
Spill-proof Sippy Cup
Diapers/Pullups – send a package, we will let you know when you are running low
Two full changes of clothes – i.e. shirt/sweater, shorts/pants, socks
A “P.S.” regarding clothing – please dress your child in comfortable clothing that is suitable for playing and quick and easy to deal with at diaper changing time. Rubber sole tennis shoes are ideal for play time and the play ground.
As you can see from our class schedule, your toddler will stay very busy each day. Our learning experiences will be hands-on and give the children free choices to explore by touching, seeing, hearing and doing. We will include: creative art activities, different types of music, story times, activities to improve fine and gross motor skills, and lots of talking and singing to improve language skills. We will also be working on life skills such as eating with utensils, drinking from a cup, napping on a mat and sitting still for story time.
For health reasons, we do not allow children to have a bottle or pacifier when potty training. Some children will begin to show an interest in potty training around 18 -30 months of age. When children begin potty training we work with the children on asking when they feel the need to go potty, pulling their pants/underwear down and up, wiping themselves properly and changing their clothes if they have an accident. We ask that parents do the same when working with their child at home. As they get closer to the 3yr mark we will begin to transition to our Preschool class. However, children can only move up to the Preschool class when fully potty trained and 3 years old. If a child is not yet potty trained by 3yrs, we will allow them 3 more months to be in the Toddler 2 class. If more time is needed beyond the 3 months, it will be given on a case by case basis.
